Prevention is the arrangement made in advance to minimize a risk. The objective of prevention is to ensure that an eventual damage does not occur.

This applies not only to the preventive policy of a nation, but also to the individual, family or community level. Hence, prevention means being able and willing to avoid the risks or consequences that a problem may produce.

The primary purpose of prevention in a person is :

According to data provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), chronic non-communicable diseases are responsible for 60% of deaths on our planet. But it is estimated that their progress could be controlled, or at least reduced, if specific health prevention programs were applied on a global scale.

There are certain types of diseases, such as chronic respiratory or cardiovascular diseases, which would benefit, with priority, from specific prevention programs applicable to their own characteristics. For both respiratory diseases and those linked to cardiovascular irregularities, doctors focus their efforts on promoting the practice of physical exercise and a healthy diet with more vegetables and fruits in their patients.
